GOOD WORK ON THE SOMME.
BLUNDELLSANDS OFFICER AWARDED D.S.O.
The D.S.O. has been awarded to Major J. C. M. Williams, West Lancashire R.F.A., son of Colonel George J. Williams, V.D., formerly of the 4th Liverpool Artillery Volunteers, who resides at The Lindens, Blundellsands.
Major Williams was a captain in the Territorial Artillery prior to the war, and has been in France since September, 1915. The decoration and promotion from captain to major have been given as the result of good work on the Somme, and, as Major Williams is very popular with his brother officers and men, the honour conferred upon him has given much satisfaction.
In civil life Major Williams was associated with his father in business in Fraser-street, Liverpool. His wife is the daughter of Mr. Charles Dukinfield, cotton broker, who resides at Roanoke, Birkenhead.
