Captain Arthur James Dingle, 6th East Yorkshire Regiment. Fell at Sulva Bay on 22nd August 1915, aged 23. Son of the Rev. Arthur Trehane Dingle and Beatrice Dingle, of Eaglescliffe Rectory.974 Corporal G.E. Grey, 4th Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in France on 14th February 1916, aged 25. Son of George E. Grey.Surgeon Hugh John Dingle, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. H.M.S. "Petard." Died in the battle of Jutland on 31st May 1916, aged 23. Son of the Rev. Arthur Trehane Dingle and Beatrice Dingle, of Eaglescliffe Rectory.Second Lieutenant A. Braithwaite, 5th Durham Light Infantry. Accidentally killed whilst flying on 11th March 1918, aged 24. Son of Arthur and Mary Braithwaite. He joined the army at the commencement of the War, and served two years in France.203809 Company Serjeant Major H. Atkinson D.C.M. and Bar, 1st/4th Yorkshire Regiment. Died 6th April 1918, aged 27. Son of Thomas and Florence Atkinson, of Myrtle Road, Eaglescliffe; husband of Emily Jane Harrison (formerly Atkinson), of Westland's Rd., Egglescliffe.Second Lieutenant Fred Forster Smith, Seaplane Station (Cattewater), Royal Air Force. Died 1st September 1918, aged 21. Son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Smith, of Eaglescliffe, Co. Durham; husband of Daisy Forster Smith, of 12, Park Mansions, Knightsbridge, London.
