2215 Private Thomas Towers, 1st/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Died 26th April 1915.
At the Baptist Church on Sunday morning, Mr. Henry Brown, as senior deacon, mentioned that the first death had occurred amongst the members serving at the front in the person of Thos. Towers, one of the Pals, who lived in Albright's-yard, off St. Leonard-gate. He left a widow and two children, to whom they expressed their deepest sympathy. From Gillows firm Mrs. Towers had received very kind testimony of the esteem in which her husband was held, and to his cheerful and happy disposition. The letter was accompanied by a substantial monetary gift from his fellow workers.
