29837 Sapper Thomas Tipper, 10th Railway Company, Royal Engineers. Died of enteric fever on 11th April 1900, aged 25.
DEATH OF AN ALTON MAN AT NAAUWPOORT. - Thomas Tipper, of the Royal Engineers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tipper, of Alton, died at Nauuwpoort of enteric fever on April 11th. The deceased was in his 26th year, and served with Gatacre. Previous to joining the Royal Engineers four and a half years ago, he was with the North Stafford Regiment for two years. The unfortunate soldier, prior to joining the colours, was employed by Mr. Charles Bill, M.P., at Farley Hall, as assistant gardener.
