RAINFORD SOLDIER WOUNDED
The first Rainford soldier to be wounded at the front :- Private Benjamin Jackson, of the 1st Cheshire Regiment, who sustained frostbite and a shrapnel wound in the back, whilst serving in Flanders. Private Jackson is 38 years of age, and had been off the reserve for several years, rejoining, however, at the outbreak of the war. In November he was drafted to the front, and early this month was invalided home to recuperate. He returned to Chester, the depot of his regiment, on Saturday last. Private Jackson's photograph appears in another column.
