Died, of wounds received in action, on 1st May 1915, aged 29.www.forclubandcountry.org.uk/fundraisers/bristolcityFOOTBALLER KILLED.News has been received in Bristol of the death from wounds of Gunner Tom ware, the Bristol City goalkeeper, who rejoined the Army on the outbreak of war. A local player, he was discovered by the City when on furlough in 1911-12 and the following season succeeded Clay as their goalkeeper. Subsequently he never lost his place, and was regarded as the most promising goalkeeper Bristol City had had since the days of Hugh Montieth. (Morecambe Visitor, 23 June 1915)
