N.B. In the above roll of honour 'Whitaker' has been spelt with three Ts!2421 Gunner Charles Campbell, 136th Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died 6th September 1915, aged 32. Son of the late Leonard and Caroline Campbell.241767 Corporal James Barker Whitaker, 2nd/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in France on 9th September 1917, aged 20. Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Whitaker, of Barker House, Galgate. 3857990 Private Bernard Pennington, 1st The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire). Died of wounds in Belgium on 8th June 1940, aged 21. Son of Joshua Pennington. CWGC database gives his date of death as 7th June 1940.
