Lieutenant Samuel O'Neill, 6th Lancashire Fusiliers. Killed in action in Gallipoli on 10th June 1915 "on the eve of his 21st birthday." Son of Adolf George and the late Sarah Elizabeth O'Neill, of Marland Grange, Rochdale. CWGC database gives his date of death as 12th June 1915 and his age as 21.
Second Lieutenant John Rainbow, 6th Manchester Regiment. Killed in action at Gallipoli on 7th August 1915, aged 18 years and 5 months. Son of Alfred George and Sarah Jane Rainbow, of Croft Bank, Castleton. CWGC database gives his age as 19. Note the difference in ranks, Second Lieutenant being that which CWGC gives him.
