18606 Private James Hawes, East Riding Yeomanry. Missing, presumed drowned, on 15th April 1917, aged 22. Son of James and Barbara Penny Hawes, of Strawberry Bank, Skelsmergh. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_ArcadianMISSING, PRESUMED DROWNEDHAWES, Pte. James, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Hawes, is reported missing, presumed to be drowned at sea on the 15th of April. Before the war he was employed at Mr. W. Benson's, Laithwaite.
