RUFFORD GARDENER WOUNDED. It is reported that Gunner Arthur Smith, of the R.F.A., who was formerly a gardener in the employ of Major Thomas Fermor-Hesketh, J.P., of Rufford Hall, has been wounded in the shoulder at the Dardanelles. He has been at the front for several months. One or two other Rufford soldiers are at the Dardanelles. (Chorley Guardian, 15 January 1916)
