7099 Private John Cleary, 2nd East Lancashire Regiment. Died 12th March 1915, aged 38. Son of James Cleary; husband of Thirza Cleary, of 38, Calder Terrace, Lomeshaye, Nelson.
The death is announced of Lance-Corporal J. Cleary, of the East Lancashire Regiment. He was a well-known Sunday School worker at Nelson, being associated with the Elizabeth-street Baptist School. He was 38 years of age, and was a time-expired soldier when the war broke out. He had served twelve years in the East Lancashire Regiment, spending the greater part of his time in India.

5580 Corporal Allan Wilson, 69th Company, Machine Gun Corps. 4th January 1917, aged 19. Son of Ernest William and Ann Wilson, of 147, Waidshouse Road, Nelson.
NELSON SOLDIER ACCIDENTALLY KILLED.
Lce.-Corpl. Allan Wilson (19), Machine Gun Corps, son of Mr. Wilson, 147, Waidshouse-road, Nelson, is officially reported to have died on January 4th as the result of an accidental gun shot wound in the abdomen. Before joining the Army he was employed as a weaver at Valley Mills.

13118 Private Harry Dunderdale Robinson, 3rd Coldstream Guards. Killed in action on 18th December 1916, aged 22. Son of Thomas and Ellen Robinson, of 6, Clement View, Nelson.
11361 Private Albert King, 6th East Lancashire Regiment. Missing on 9th August 1915, aged 21. Son of the late Benjamin and Annie King, of Chapel House Farm, Nelson.

The following Nelson soldiers are reported to have been killed in action: Private John Eastwood, Seaforth Highlanders, 16, Rook-street, formerly employed as a weaver at Messrs. Hey and Elliott's Albert Mills; and Private H. Robinson, 22, Coldstream Guards, 4, Poplar-street, who before joining the Army was a weaver at Messrs. Wainman and Co.'s Parkfield Mill.
Private Albert King, East Lancashire Regiment, brother of Mrs. Whitham, 135, -street, Nelson, who has been missing for ? months, is now officially pronounced to be dead. Before enlisting he was employed as a ? at Whitefield Mill. Another Nelson soldier, Private Clifford Thompson, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 16, Southfield-street, who was posted as missing in November, is a prisoner of war in Germany.
