Italian Decoration for a Langdale Resident.
Langdale people will be pleased to learn that Mr. George Macauley Trevelyan, of Robin Ghyll, has been awarded by the King of Italy, the Silver Medal of Valour for conspicuous bravery while in charge of an ambulance unit on November 25th. Mr. Trevelyan, who left Langdale for Italy shortly after that country entered into the European conflict, has always been very much attached to the Italian people. While collecting material for his great work on Garibaldi he tramped Italy from shore to shore, literally, in his heroe's footsteps and he may be said to know Italy almost as well as he knows the Lake District. It will also be of interest to very many in this side of the district.
