Second Lieutenant John Taylor, Croix de Guerre avec Palms (France), Royal Engineers. Died of wounds in France on 13th May 1917, aged 33. Son of Richard and Jane Taylor; husband of C. L. Taylor, of 5, Dixon Street, Longsight, Manchester. Born Holme, Westmorland. Formerly of the Royal Engineers (Singapore), came over to England in August 1915, and joined the British Army. 34415 Private Albert Baldwin, 45th Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Fell in action on 23rd August 1917, aged 32. Son of John and Margaret Baldwin, of Beetham.1379256 Sergeant (Observer) Walter John Albert Smart, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Killed on active service, 26th April 1942, aged 20. Son of Walter Osborn Smart and Emma Smart, of Bare, Morecambe.
