* Helsington is the name of the parish but there's no physical place by that name. The nearest village to St John's is Brigsteer. The war memorial painting is by the Hon. Marion de Saumarez and was dedicated on Sunday 31st August 1919. She also painted the war memorial at St Andrew's Church, Tostock, Suffolk, and 'Interior of Shrubland Park Hospital, Barham, Suffolk, Showing Staff and a Patient' which is at the British Red Cross Museum. www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/paintings/interior-of-shrubland-park-hospital-barham-suffolk-showin133685The inscription below the mural reads TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF ALL FAITHFUL DEPARTED ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919128639 Captain Richard Neville Kenward Jones M.C., Royal Artillery.
