Lieutenant Edward Maule Young, King's Own Scottish Borderers. Mortally wounded at Karee Siding, South Africa, on 29th March, and died on 30th March 1900, aged 29.THE LATE LIEUTENANT YOUNG.Deep regret was occasioned in Dumfries on Saturday afternoon, when the second telegram was received from Lord Roberts, announcing that Lieutenant E. M. Young, of the first battalion of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, had died of wounds received in the battle of Karree. Mr Young was proprietor of the estate of Lincluden, in which he succeeded his father, the late Major Thomas Young, in August, 1897, and was in his thirtieth year. Joining the Borderers in January, 1891, he was promoted Lieutenant in 1893, and had his life been spared he would have received his captaincy in a few weeks. This was the first campaign in which he had been engaged. The deceased officer was the only son of the family, and was unmarried. Died at Bloemfontein, South Africa, while on active service, on 18th May 1900. 2218 Archie Tayleur, 7th (Leicestershire Company) Imperial Yeomanry. Died on active service in South Africa on 18th December 1900, aged 24. Captain Arthur David Ripley Pott, 3rd King's Own Scottish Borderers. Died at Kimberley, South Africa, while on active service, on 20th December 1901. Captain Colin MacDonald, 1st, attached 2nd Battalion, 7th Gurkha Rifles. Killed in the Battle of Ctesiphon, near Baghdad, on 22nd November 1915, aged 32.
