POLICE COURT SURPRISE.
FOUR SOLDIERS ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY.
Disappeared While Under Military Guard.
Assistant Gaoler Cavell reported to Mr. Garrett at Bow-street, to-day, that four soldiers arrested as absentees had escaped from the court. The magistrate expressed his surprise, and asked how it happened. The assistant gaoler replied that the men were under military guard at the time, and had been taken to the office for the purpose of having certain Army forms filled in. The magistrate directed inquiries to be made. A fifth absentee is reported to have escaped from Bow-street Police Station this morning.
