On Friday evening an interesting gathering took place in the schoolroom for the purpose of welcoming Mr. T. R. Davies, just returned from South Africa. Mr. Davies, who is on the staff of the Chester Post-office, is a son of Mr. D. Davies, of Waverton. He has been absent with the Imperial Yeomanry for about 12 months. He has undergone much privation and had many thrilling experiences while fighting for his country. His numerous friends were very pleased to see he had come safely through all dangers and returned in full health and strength. The chair was taken by Mr. J. Draper, who in a suitable speech welcomed Mr. Davies, and offered him hearty congratulations in the name of all present. He then begged his acceptance of a gold albert chain in token of their appreciation of his services to his King and country. The presentation was made by Miss Geddes, of Waverton. Mr. Davies thanked the company for their kind expression of their goodwill towards him. The rest of the evening was spent in music and dancing, and great credit is due to Mr. L. Burley, who was responsible for this part of the programme. The proceedings were terminated with "God save the King."
