PRESENTATION TO TROOPER T. JONES-EVANS. - On Friday a grand concert was held at the Board Schools to commemorate the safe return of Trooper T. Jones-Evans, V.C.R., who has lately returned from South Africa. Mr. T. R. Jones, J.P., Pantglas, kindly undertook the duties of chairman, and was supported on the platform by Messrs. E. Saunders, J. L. Jones, and W. D. Evans. After some short addresses by the above, an excellent programme was gone through by the leading local and district artistes and a few friends, viz., Miss Lizzie Jones; Miss Simpson, Cardiff; Messrs. D. Davies; T. Elias, America; Tom Thomas; Evans, Treorky; D. Davies, Aberystwyth; E. Davies; and Lewis Jones. Mrs. Jones, Pantglas, afterwards invested Trooper Evans with a handsome and very expensive pair of field glasses which had been subscribed by his numerous friends at home. After this the trooper exhibited some of his South African and Boer curios which he has brought home with him for his friends to see. The public seemed to take a great interest in these, and if anybody wants more minute details with regard to them, Trooper Evans will only be glad to give them at his home, No. 3, Station-road. The concert was terminated by singing "Hen Wlad fy Nhadau," led off by Mr. Tom Thomas. It gave great satisfaction to the Working Committee in the way the public patronised the concert which was given free.
