VETERINARY VOLUNTEER FROM MOUNTAIN ASH. On Friday night a farewell banquet was given to Mr. Herbert Leyshon, veterinary surgeon, at the Duffryn Hotel, Mountain Ash, on his departure to join our forces in South Africa as a veterinary surgeon. Mr. Herbert Leyshon, who is 23 years old, volunteered his services to the Government, and was readily accepted. Dr. E. P. Evans occupied the chair, with Councillor F. N. Gray in the vice-chair. His Lordship afterwards addressed the men, commending the loyalty of the Volunteers in joining their comrades and fighting shoulder to shoulder with the active service men and the colonials at the front.
