199 Trooper Thomas Harold Phillips, 2nd Australian Light Horse. 14th May 1915, aged 26. Son of David and Sarah Phillips, of Arfryn, Carmarthen.
News has been received at Carmarthen of the death in action at the Dardanelles of Mr. T. Harold Phillips, a member of the Australian Contingent. Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Mr. D. Phillips, of Bradford House, Carmarthen, and afterwards of Parkygroes, Llangunnor. He was employed at the N.P. Bank, at Barry, and afterwards emigrated to Australia. He had been only three weeks in the Near East, when he was killed. General sympathy is expressed with his widowed mother, who lives in Picton-place, Carmarthen.

News from another wounded soldier, Pte. Luther Jenkins, 3rd Welsh, who is in hospital at Clevedon, is to the effect that he is progressing favourably under the admirable treatment he experiences at the hands of the doctors and nurses. His present surroundings are a delightful contrast to his environment in the war zone, where he was incessantly bombarded by German shells, which seemed to come from everywhere.
