LLANGOLLEN CHURCH MEMORIALS - Llangollen Parish Church was on Sunday morning the scene of an impressive ceremony, when Dr. Edwards, Lord Bishop of St. Asaph, consecrated a series of Coronation and other memorials. Captain J. C. Best, R.N., of Plas Vivod, Llangollen, together with Mrs. Best, generously offered new clergy and choir stalls as a memorial to the King's Coronation and as a thank-offering for the safe return from South Africa of their son, Captain William Best, of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. The choir screen of elaborately carved oak was given by Captain William Best as a war memorial and to commemorate his safe return from the South African campaign. The third memorial was that of a handsome chancel screen of wrought iron, presented by Mrs. Watkin Richards, of Holmwood, Llangollen, in memory of her husband. The three memorials have greatly beautified the church.
