HEROES MEMORIAL. - At the monthly meeting of the C.E.M.S., held in the Rcreation Rooms, on Wednesday, a spirited discussion took place as to the form a memorial to the fallen heroes should take place. Many interesting suggestions were forthcoming. For a memorial erected by the Churchpeople that which found the most favour was a suggestion of the Rector, viz., a striking tablet with suitable symbolic decorations, placed under the west window. For a borough memorial scheme, the most favoured suggestion was "A housing scheme to ensure that the sons of the borough should have decent and healthy houses to live in." It was generally agreed that such a scheme would fittingly commemorate the dead and at the same time do justice to the surviving heroes.
