LIEUTENANT W. E. Blagg, 4th North Staffordshire Regiment of Militia, has, after a short course of instruction in Maxim gunnery at the School of Musketry, Hythe, successfully passed the two examinations with the highest possible marks obtainable. One examination was for practical ways with the Maxim gun, and the other a written examination in the theory of the gun. In consequence of having charge of a detachment of the 4th N.S. Militia for these examinations, Lieutenant Blagg was prevented from accompanying his brother officers and men to the Cape on Friday last. He, however, sails on the 16th inst.
