15746 Corporal S.J.Edgerton, 8th Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment. Died of wounds in France on 8th July 1916, aged 29.In Stoke-on-Trent Museum. His home address was 264, Duke Street, Fenton.The verses readHe rests in peace, his country's call He heard and hearing, gave His life, his youth, his all, Our nation's name to save. Our tears are mingled with our pride, What more could mortal give? With other heroes side by side, He died that we might live.
Honour to those in battle slain, Who died that we might freedom gain To their brave memory homage give, On history's page their deeds shall live
Bravely he fought, nobly he died.
