We cannot tell which flower is best,
In garden or in dell,
To fill the earth with fragrance sweet,
We love them all so well.
But God has plucked one from our home
To live in heaven so fair,
He fell in battle but one day
We hope to meet him there.
Sharp was the blow and quick I fell
I had no time to say farewell;
But Jehovah ever good and kind,
Will comfort those I left behind
