The stadium was built, as the Civic Stadium, in 1937, re-named the War Memorial Stadium in 1960, which seems a curious year to commemorate, presumably, Buffalo's World War II veterans and Fallen.
Most of the stadium was demolished in 1988 but a part still stands.
