Second Lieutenant Paul Heaney, D.C.M., 1st King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Died of wounds on 21st October 1914, aged 37. Son of Patrick and Elizabeth Heaney, of 42, Queen's Road Everton; husband of Sarah Isabella Heaney, of 11, Ansdell Road, Peckham, London.
Second-Lieut. P. Heaney, who received his commission after being mentioned in despatches for bravery in the battle of the Rivers, is now reported to have died of wounds. He was a well-known Sergeant-Major at the Lancaster Barracks before the war broke out. (Lancaster Guardian, 26 December 1914) ____________________________________________________________
