Lieutenant Arthur George Wills, 9th Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Killed at the Dardanelles on 9th August 1915, aged 21. Son of the late Lt. Col. Caleb Shera Wills, C.B., and Octavia Christina Wills.

Lieut. Arthur George Wills, 9th Sherwood Foresters, who was officially reported on Monday to have been killed at the Dardanelles between the 7th and 11th August, in what was practically his first battle, was the youngest son of the late Lieut. Colonel C. S. Wills, C.B., R.A.M.C., who from 1893 to 1899 was in medical charge of the depot of the Royal Lancaster Regiment. Lieut. A. G. Wills was born at Lunecliffe, Lancaster, in 1894, and was educated at Lancaster Grammar School, at Charney Hall, and at Marlborough. He had completed his second year at Oriel College, Oxford, where he rowed in the eights, and also at Henley in 1913, when the Oriel boat won the Thames Challenge Cup. He was a member of the O.T.C. at school and college, and he was given a commission in the 9th Sherwood Foresters soon after the war broke out. He went to the Dardanelles with his battalion in July.
