The hall has closed - a new Village Hall has been built - although it was being used by a rock band for practice when I took these photos. The original building dates from 1811 with a post-Great War addition, the whole then being named Ellel War Memorial Institute.
"The former warehouse of the mill was adapted, after the 1914-1919 war, as a Memorial Hall. It is now in an increasing stage of disrepair, and a new hall is being built in the upper part of the village to the west of the church."
Of the five foundation stones only one still has a legible inscription.
