2282 Private Alexander Burrows, Coldstream Guards. Killed in Belgium on 18th March 1915, aged 34. Son of Richard and Margaret Burrows, of Burnley; husband of M. E. Burrows, of 22, Prestwich Street, Burnley. CWGC database gives his age as 33.
12515 Private Richard Marsden, 2nd East Lancashire Regiment. Killed on 19th March 1915, aged 40. Son of Thomas and Winifred Marsden, of Burnley; husband of Catherine Marsden, of 9, Greenhalgh Street, Burnley.
BURNLEY PUBLICAN KILLED.
Official intimation has been received by his wife that Private Alexander Burrows, of the Coldstream Guards, was killed on March 18th in Belgium. Deceased, who was the licensee of the Cross Gates Inn, Burnley, was only six months short of completing his term as a reservist when he was called up. He was 34 years of age, and went through the South African War.
News has reached Burnley that Private Robert Marsden, 9, Greenhalgh-street, Burnley, of the 2nd East Lancashire Regiment, has been killed at the front.

5830 Rifleman John William Collinson, 2nd King's Royal Rifle Corps. Killed in action in France on 10th January 1915.
BURNLEY SOLDIERS KILLED.
Mrs. Durkin, of 14, Hatton-street, Burnley, has been notified of the death of her son, Private Martin Durkin, of the 1st East Lancashire Regiment. He has died of wounds received in action in France. Mrs. Durkin had four sons at the front. Two have been killed and a third has returned to France after having been sent home wounded.
Private Robert Williamson, of the 1st Manchester Regiment, whose wife and family live at 4, Top-street, Finsley Gate, Burnley, has died at Boulogne from gunshot wounds in the chest.
Private John William Collinson, of the 2nd King's Royal Rifles, formerly employed on the railway at Rosegrove Station, Burnley, has also been killed in action in France. Private Collinson went through the Boer War, and, on leaving the army as reservist, secured employment at Rosegrove Station. Three years ago he settled with his wife and family in South Africa, but when the war broke out he re-enlisted in his old regiment. Private Collinson's brother Walter was wounded a few weeks ago.

LOST THEIR ONLY SONS.
Mr. and Mrs. Starkie, 74, Queensberry-road, Burnley, have lost their only two sons at the war. Private Harry Starkie, of the Seaforth Highlanders, has been killed in action in the East, and Private Edward Starkie, of the R.A.M.C., was drowned in the Royal Edward disaster of August, 1915.
