A Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the Parish Hall took place on 25th July 1923. The Great War memorial stone is in the south wall but the building itself is not a memorial.The memorial can just be seen, halfway along the right-hand walland to the right, with St Paul's Church in the background.38109 Private John Robert Sturzaker, 1st/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action on 24th August 1918, aged 29. Son of Mrs Sturzaker, "Brookside", Hala Road, Scotforth; husband of Mary B. Sturzaker, of 43, Cobden Street, Dalton-in-Furness. CWGC database gives his wife's address as 5, Newsham Place, Bowerham, Lancaster.241255 Lance Corporal Alfred Oliver Jackson, 1st/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). 12th October 1918, aged 24. Son of Edward Alexander and Catherine A. Jackson, of "Penrhos," Scotforth Road, Lancaster.
