251575 Private William James Stockdale, 5th/6th Royal Scots. Died from meningitis, in France, on 2nd May 1917, aged 22. Son of William and Agnes Stockdale, of Trees Farm, Westhouse.(Lancaster Guardian)_____________________________________________________________ 35524 Private Christopher Harrison Jackson, 8th East Lancashire Regiment. Killed in action in France on 9th August 1917, aged 19. Son of Robert James and Grace Jackson, of Rock Villa, Westhouse.KILLED IN ACTIONJACKSON, Pte. Christopher Harrison, of the East Lancashire Regt., was killed in action in France on August 9th. Pte. Jackson, who was only 19, joined in November, 1916, and went to France in April of this year. He previously assisted his brother in his business as a butcher. (Westmorland Gazette, 25 August 1917)
