Second Lieutenant Sydney John Armstrong, 12th Northumberland Fusiliers . Killed in action on 26th September 1915, aged 32. Son of John N. and Marian Armstrong, of 1, Slyne Rd., Lancaster. 27464 Private Richard Arthur Cornthwaite, 7th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action in France on 15th November 1916, aged 32. Son of Richard and Rachel Cornthwaite, of Lune Bank, Lancaster. CWGC database gives his age as 31.
Second Lieutenant William Pinch, 1st/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action on 31st July 1917, aged 27. Son of Joseph and Mary Ann Pinch. Native of Lancaster.
Second Lieutenant John Richard Wilmot Ashton, East Lancashire Regiment. Killed in action on 6th November 1917, aged 22. Son of William Newsham Ashton and Elizabeth Ellen Ashton, of Cedar Cottage, St. Anne's Rd., South Shore, Blackpool. Born at Cheltenham.
Captain Albert Ellwood M.C., 4th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action on 14th April 1918.
41936 Private Frank Middleton, 8th Somerset Light Infantry. Killed in action on 24th August 1918, aged 19. Son of John and Christina Middleton, of Hall Bank Cottage, Dent. 'IRC Kevin' of the Great War forum has told me that Frank Middleton enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders at the age of 15, was wounded at Loos and then discharged when it was discovered how old he was.
1199 Serjeant Richard Wallbank Kirkbride, 20th London Regiment, transferred to (401114) 79th Company Labour Corps. Killed in action on 1st September 1918.
241255 Lance Corporal Alfred Oliver Jackson, 1st/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action on 12th October 1918, aged 24. Son of Edward Alexander and Catherine A. Jackson, of "Penrhos," Scotforth Road, Lancaster.
