The Late Pte. James Simpson
On Sunday morning, the Rev. J. A. Tait, pastor of Centenary Church, spoke of the death of Pte. James Simpson, of Davidson-street, Lancaster. He stated he had been brought up in the Sunday School, and three years ago became a member of the Church. He was only 20 years of age and was killed in the same charge as Pte. Douglas Wright. Their sympathy went out to his mother, who two months ago lost her husband, and at present had a boy of 14 dangerously ill. Another son was at the front. Appropriate reference was also made to Pte. Simpson's death at the meeting of the Centenary Brotherhood, by the President (Mr. Tait), and his favourite hymns were sung, the Secretary also reading his last letter from the front.
