241401 Private Thomas Dainty, 8th King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Killed in action on 27th September 1918, aged 22. Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Ellen Dainty; husband of Annie Dainty, of 25, Ridge Street, Lancaster.
Pte. THOMAS DAINTY (22), K.O., whose wife and one child reside at 25, Ridge-street, is reported killed in action on Sept. 27th. He attended St. Peter's School, being afterwards employed at Lune Mills. Joining up in Sept., 1914, he went to the front early in 1915. He was wounded in February, 1917, and again wounded slightly in August, 1918. ____________________________________________________________
218953 Gunner Sidney Francis William Hayden, "C" Battery, 317th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died of wounds on 26th October 1918, aged 38.
Gunner SIDNEY FRANCIS WM. HAYDEN (38), R.F.A., whose wife and two children reside at 26, Edith-street, is reported to have been badly wounded in the back on Oct. 26th, and to have died soon after admission to the 45th C.C.S. He was a native of Bury, and came to Lancaster as manager for Messrs. Slater's Ltd. He took a keen interest in the local branch of the Union of Shop Assistants. (Lancaster Guardian, 9 November 1918)
